PS - If you are using one instance of the Aria Player on each track, you might want to consider consolidating several instruments into a single instance of the Aria Player (as shown below). Perhaps examine each MIDI item in the MIDI editor to verify which channel goes with each track, so that you use the correct channels in the Aria Player. It sounds like you are close to getting this right, so keep working with it. Make sure that in the Aria Player, the right-most number in each instrument setup (e.g., the "01" in the alto sax slot in the image above) matches the MIDI channel for each instrument in the data you imported from Sibelius. If you are loading each instrument into slot #1 of a separate instance of the Aria Player, then you need to set the MIDI channel appropriately to match the MIDI channel in Reaper. The MIDI channel is the right-most number in each slot, under the little double-headed arrow thingy. I am going to assume that when you load an instrument into the Aria Player, you probably load it into slot #1, as I have done with the alto sax below:īy default, Aria will assign each of the 16 instruments to MIDI channels 1-16. It sounds like you are using a separate instance of the Aria Player on each track, with just one instrument loaded in each instance the Aria player? If so, then I think the problem is probably with the MIDI channel assignments. I've never used it, but it sounds like it loaded everything correctly - just a different way than exporting MIDI from Sibelius. I'm such an old-timer, I forgot about Music XML. The name of this instrument is written on every track, " Harp.xml, surely that should not be so. On top of each track, in very small print is the name of the corresponding instrument, the name of the project, and then the name of the first instrument which happens to be the only one that is audible. I have just noticed something probably very significant. In Routing all tracks have Parent Channels 1-2 and track Channels 2. I will need to know where to look to find this out."Is the VST set up to play all instruments on the same stereo output (channels 1/2)? Or does is each instrument assigned to its own audio channel(s)? And if so, are your Reaper tracks set up accordingly?" I wanted to send a photo of how it looks but the max file size is absurdly small nothing is visible. I then pressed the FX button on each track one by one, selected the Aria player, when the Aria player was displayed I navigated to the instrument corresponding to the track. I dropped the XML file into Reaper and everything fell into tracks in the right order with names correct midi info on each track and all. Instead of Midi I exported the Music XML file following Sibelius recommendations.
